Removal

Repair of the heat exchanger of a heater of the Jeep Grand Cherokee car is the complex challenge lying outside the limits of qualification of the average amateur mechanic Work it is necessary to make very attentively, without haste. Many of unions and electric sockets of system are deeply under the dashboard and access to them is extremely limited. For extraction from the car of the block of the heater/conditioner of air it is necessary to remove all dashboard.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

On the models equipped with the conditioner of air, make a system discharge (see the prevention above).
Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
Empty cooling system (Head of Control and routine maintenance) and disconnect hoses from inlet and final unions of the heat exchanger of a heater.
Remove the console lower a steering column and remove dashboard assembly (Head the Body).
Disunite the electric socket of the motor of the fan of a heater (The section Removal and installation of the block of the fan of a heater).
On the models equipped with the conditioner of air, disconnect system lines from the evaporator on a partition of an impellent compartment. For a detachment of unions special clips are required.

For stretching of a ring spring at a detachment of lines of central air it is necessary to use the special tool.

Remove a broad tank (The section Removal and installation of a radiator and a broad tank of system of cooling).
Remove from a partition of an impellent compartment the processor (RSM), without disuniting the 60-terminal electric socket.
Delay RSM rather far to give fixing nuts of the block of the heater/conditioner of air (three behind the processor, one - over the distributor on models with the V8) engine from hairpins on the party turned towards the engine to a partition of an impellent compartment.

Give nuts of fastening of a casing on the impellent party to a compartment partition.

Mark and disunite electric sockets of the block of the heater/conditioner of air and resistive assembly of the motor of the fan. Disconnect a vacuum hose from the vacuum motor.
Remove a drain tube of the evaporator.
Remove a sleeve обдува glasses (over the block of the heater/conditioner of air).

Disconnect a sleeve of heating of back foot wells.

Give nuts from hairpins from the party of a partition of an impellent compartment turned to salon and take assembly of the heater/conditioner of air from the car.
Give fixing screws and remove the heater heat exchanger, having pulled it vertically up from a casing.

The heat exchanger of a heater is taken from a casing of the block of the heater/conditioner of air.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Establish the heat exchanger in a casing of the heater/conditioner of air and screw screws.
At installation of the heat exchanger glue laying for fixing it in the course of installation of assembly of the fan.
Installation of the remained components make as it should be, the return to an order of their removal.

At installation of a casing of the fan/evaporator try not to jam wires between the case of an air inlet and the dashboard on the right side of a casing.

Fill cooling system.
Make an oporozhneniye, a recharge and check on leakages of central air of air (if that is provided).
Start the engine and check serviceability of its functioning.
