Check of serviceability and replacement of the sensor of provision of a camshaft
Check

|
- Uncover the distributor (Head of Control and routine maintenance).
- Insert into a back part of the socket of a plait of wires of the distributor the straightened paper clips or wire pins for ensuring contact to plugs. Try not to damage at installation of pins a plait.
- Connect a positive wire of the voltmeter to a target wire of the sensor (see
an illustration). Be verified with schemes in Head System of onboard electric equipment.
- Having connected the voltmeter:
- On engines in volume of 4.0 l turn the engine a starter so that the begunok of the distributor turned in situation at 10 o'clock. The ring of the sensor will enter into the magnetic induction sensor.
- On engines of 5.2 l turn the engine a starter so that the begunok turned back on the engine. The mobile ring of the sensor will enter into the magnetic induction sensor.
- At ignition key turn in the situation ON (without engine start) the voltmeter should show value near 5В.
- If tension is absent, check tension on a food wire (white-black). It should equal about 8 In at the key turned in the situation ON.
- If tension is present, connect щуп the voltmeter to an alarm wire (black-gray) and turn the engine, watching instrument readings. Indications should fluctuate between zero and 5.0 In that speaks about the correct pulsation of a signal of ignition.

- Connect positive щуп the voltmeter to black gray wire of the socket of the sensor of provision of a camshaft and make sure that its indications pulse between values of 0 and 5.0 Century.
|
- If the sensor of provision of a camshaft does not pass any of the listed checks, replace it.
|

Replacement
|
|
V8 engines are equipped with the sensor of provision of a camshaft which can be taken from the distributor without removal of the last from the engine (independent type) whereas for sensor removal on 6-cylinder engines it is necessary to disassemble before the distributor (the sensor of dependent type). |
Sensor of dependent type (V8) engines

- Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
|
|
If the radio tape recorder in your car is equipped with a security code before disconnecting from the battery a negative wire make sure that this code know. |
- Remove from the distributor a cover (Head of Control and routine maintenance).
- Disunite electric sockets of the sensor of provision of a camshaft.
- Take the sensor from the distributor.

- Installation make upside-down.

Sensor of dependent type (6-cylinder engines)

|
- Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
|
|

- Remove the distributor (The section Removal and distributor installation).
- Mark the provision of a gear wheel and a shaft in relation to a cylindrical pin is it is useful.
- By means of a small drift take a cylindrical pin (finger) from a distributor shaft.

- Remove from the distributor a gear wheel and a persistent washer.
- Take a distributor shaft from the case.
- Give the screw of fastening of the sensor of provision of a camshaft and remove the lever.
- Take the plug of a plait of wires through passage from a cut in the case of the distributor and take the sensor.
- Installation make upside-down.
